subluxation

Subluxation is an incomplete dislocation caused by the displacement of one of the two bones that make up a joint.

Subluxation can be defined as an incomplete dislocation caused by the displacement of one of the two bones that make up a joint. This type of situation affects the nervous system giving rise to innumerable physical problems.

This type of injury may initially appear imperceptible and not very painful. It is characterized by the production of interference between the brain and the rest of our body that gradually decreases our quality of life.

All the subluxations are reducing our Joint mobility. They also limit the functions of the affected nerves, so a good chiropractic care that helps us improve our health and that our routine activity does not disturb us.

Differences between dislocation and subluxation

Subluxation is the dislocation of a joint due to excessive stretching of the soft tissues. On the other hand, the dislocation occurs when two bones come out of their original position. The biggest difference between both pathologies is that the loss of contact between the joint surfaces is only partial with subluxation. While with the dislocation these do not have any contact.

Causes of subluxation

Subluxation is caused by micro or macro trauma. The spine It is one of the most affected areas since its consequences compromise the axis of support and structural stability of the entire body.

Among the most important causes we have:

physical stress

  • Injuries or blows
  • Accident Insurance
  • bone rotations
  • Bad postures
  • Forced movements of the joints
  • Physical overexertion
  • Overweight

Emotional stress

  • Couple troubles
  • Studies
  • Family problems
  • Economic situation
  • Work

chemical stress

  • Drink alcohol and caffeine
  • Tobacco
  • Pollution/contamination
  • Antibiotics

We can also list a series of factors that clearly contribute to suffering a subluxation, such as:

  • Inadequate diet
  • sports malpractice
  • Sedentary
  • sleep disorders

Symptom

As we have previously mentioned, subluxation can cause nerve interference. On many occasions they are undetectable as they do not manifest with acute pain. Among the symptoms we can find:

  • Swelling and severe pain in the affected area
  • numbness and tingling
  • joint immobility
  • Purple appearance of the affected area

Vertebral subluxation

We are now going to focus on vertebral subluxations, which are also called vertebral impingement.

They originate when one or several vertebrae are displaced, causing irritation of the nerve that passes through it. That is, they produce a nervous interference that interferes with communication between the brain and the rest of the body.

Different investigations carried out at the University of Colorado (United States) determined that a pressure to the nerve produced in the spine of the weight equivalent to that of a coin can interfere with its correct functioning by more than 60%. The pressure can exist without causing appreciable pain to the patient.

Effects of vertebral subluxation

The effects of vertebral subluxation are defined by the following components:

  • Bone: Spine misaligned. One or more vertebrae are out of their natural position altering mobility. In addition, over time they produce degenerative changes.
  • Nervous: Nerves and structures are pinched, compressed, or irritated. The impulses that flow through the nerves may be blocked. there may be no pain or other symptoms.
  • Muscular: Muscles help keep the vertebrae in place and are controlled by nerves, forming an integral part of the vertebral subluxation complex. If the muscles are in tension, especially sensitive and sore, they can cause an unbalanced posture, causing fatigue and increased joint wear.
  • Tissue: Ligaments, cartilage, discs, tendons and internal organs that can be affected, giving rise to osteoarthritis or vertebral degeneration.
  • Chemical: As we have previously mentioned, the stress produced by different causes can give rise to subluxations. Muscles, joints, ligaments and different organs can show signs of wear, aging, fatigue and lower resistance to disease, due to low physical and mental vitality. Disease of the internal organs and vertebral degeneration and herniated discs can occur after years due to the complex of vertebral subluxation.
